Model's gluttonous sins | Julien Herrera

I have never written about food on this blog.

Never ever.

But gluttonous sins are an intriguing subject...right?

Especially if the protagonist is a sexy and tattooed new face: I have just come across an interview on Essen mag (unfortunately available in Italian only) with Jullien Herrera which topic, weird enough, was food.

Apparently this hottie, who is fast becoming a favorite of photographers and fashion editors, really likes to eat proper food and seriously dislikes all the kind of light and fake "model's food" you get during Fashion Week. Plus, he knows how to cook! No jokes. ...and I absolutely love guys that are good at cooking because I'm not what you would call a Chef, not at all!

So if you know how to cook, and even if you don't but you want to give Jullien's favorite dish (the one he is crazy about!!) a try yourself, here we go, he was kind enough to give us his personal recipe of "Pasta with Vodka":

Ingredients: 1 tbsp. olive oil, 1/2 glass of vodka, 2 cans of tomatoes (keep their juice and smash them in the mixer/blender), 1 spoon of salt, a pinch of minced red pepper, 1 big cup of cocking cream, 200ml of skimmed milk, 200 gr of pasta (penne), 24 minced basilico leaves (fresh), 200gr of pecorino roman (typical Italian sheep chees)

Preparation: Heat oil in skillet over medium heat. Stir in the tomatoes, and 200ml of skimmed milk. Stir continuously for 5 minutes. Add vodka. Heat over high heat. Stir 1 big cup of cooking cream and pepper. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat. Cook pasta according to directions.

Place drained pasta into frying pan, add Pecorino Romano cheese, and mix thoroughly for about 2 minutes. Top with Pecorino Romano grated cheese and fresh basil.

Make sure you let me know if you try it and if you like it!
Unfortunately in Milan it is too hot right now to even think about cooking pasta...

Being an art director that works mainly for fashion clients I am always fascinated when I come across unusual lookbooks like this one, art directed and designed by Gulpstudio (photography by Cristian Di Stefano studio) for Gory the Palma SS10, that immediately grabbed my attention.

Black and white photography looks awfully nice when mixed with skeletons illustrations, isn't it?

...and it goes straight to my inspiration folder.

Ann Demeulemeester I fuckin' luv you

It has been thanks to the beautiful and always inspiring Queen Michelle, who posted and twitted about farfetch sales quite a lot last week, that I set my eyes over these beauties.

Shoes that I obviously didn't need but, after a couple of day obsessing over them, quickly became essentials to the outfit I will wear to my friend wedding.

You might object that these aren't exactly wedding shoes, but who knows me well would never expect anything else from me. Especially considering that even at my wedding (oh yes, I'm married) I was wearing a total black outfit. So chic, but anyway, I'm planning to wear them with the Rick Owens Expolsion dress but I might still change my mind from now to the wedding... even if I should stop shopping for a while since I just discover that I forgot paying taxes last November (huge amount, no jokes!!!!) and now I'm waiting to pay every cent of it plus a fuckin' penalty...such a financial disaster, must be a good girl from now on! But I must say that I'm really happy that all the taxes issue came out just the day after I received these shoes, otherwise I would have never have the guts to order them anyway lol.

Diesel Black Gold performance @ Diesel Penthouse Headquarters in Milan.
With the agency where I work - Golab - I have been doing all the graphic/communcation material for the event and I was there to see the show.
Despite the fact it was menswear only, I saw a lot of nice stuff I could easily wear, like distressed leather jackets, graphic tees and jumpers with hole on the elbows. Nice.
And the you know...it is always ok to see nice male models performing for Fashion Week...lol

Michel Comte @Milan Triennale

Today it was the first relaxed Sunday I had in a month or so and I was exactly in the mood to go and visit some inspiring exhibition. I was lucky because this month Milan Triennale is hosting "Michel Comte. Crescendo fotografico", an awesome exhibition which retraces the career of one of the best contemporary fashion and portrait photographers, definitely worth a visit.

The show includes 87 images and 20 collages, each one of them is composed of test images taken from various rolls that give an overall vision of the complexity of Comte's work before he is happy with a final shot. The selection of the images in the exhibition is fabulous and provides a broader demonstration of the photographer's work: not just his famous fashion advertising campaigns, but also black-and-white portraits.

Here I post some of my fav shots that I grabbed there.

I have just received the latest OnPedder zine and I have been very pleased to discover that, despite the fact that this summer is all in technicolor, it brings a large exciting black and white selection with many of my fav designers, from Ann Demeulemasteer to Rick Owens, from Alexander McQueen to Alexander Wang an many more.
If you could just one piece which one would it be?
I am afraid I wouldn't be able to choose just one guys.
It would be a hard match between Rick Owens and Ann D. wedges…toga flats and Falconiere jewelry just to mention a few.
Currently drooling and dreaming to get them all.

The newest Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair AW11 collection doesn't only explore a new world of fabrics and materials, but also their usual cocoon-silhouette has been forced to make way for an edgier sex appeal, with a new focus on accentuating body parts. The most significant parts of the collection are the atelier pieces all made of aluminium and the hand made corsage. Other than that, we find skyscraper platforms in rubber – with rabbit fur-details, some steel, plastic and leather.

We also find spiral shaped armlets, metal shoulder detailing, and a fringed top with aluminium edges.

So WOW.

Hello beautiful people!
It's time to introduce you to one of my favorite creatives: meet Paolo Zerbini, edgy coming up Italian photographer and director based in London. He's got much to say and the freshness of his work is what excites me the most. In addition to publishing his works in the best alternative fashion and lifestyle magazines such as Vice, Sang Bleu, Vogue Italia, iD, Ward mag, GQ, Volt and Naag, he directs beautiful, underground-chic and sometimes ironic short movies which I adore.
Let's see what he told me in his awesome interview.

Hi Paolo!
Tell us a bit about you and how did you get into photography.
I was born in Italy and picked up a camera really early....at 17 I went to the States and started shooting around the place like crazy...I went everywhere and shot everyone. I stayed for a year. The deal was done, I was going to be a photographer.

How would you describe your aesthetic in five words?
Light makes my pictures.

B/w vs color. What’s your choice?
When you can have both why choosing?

Your models are young, sexy, edgy guys. How do you choose them? And how do you like them to pose when you are directing the shoots?
When I choose girls I go a lot about the features and try to meet them...personality does a lot for me. When it comes to guys it's pure instinct that I follow.
I tell all my models not to pose.

Which was the most exciting project you had been working on?
ummm..... I guess that my Vice projects are the most interesting and exciting. Going to Romania for a month with my pal Daniel O'Connor was also an amazing project to carry.

Which is the magazine you would love to shoot for?
Purple

You shoot quite a lot of fashion. Are you into fashion and style yourself?
I like interesting people. That is the whole package is not just the fashion....do I go crazy for clothes and just have to have some bits? sometimes.

What do you think style is about?
Identity and being able to change it thru style whenever we want.

if style was a place it would be...
Surely not Ireland.

And if it was a person? Do you have a style icon that you would really love to shoot?
naaaaaa.

You are originally from Italy, living in London. How does the city and its people inspire you?
Living in London inspires me massively every day of the week. I shoot a lot of street people and I am absolutely taken by them. I love Italy and I carry my heritage very close to me but right now London gives me a shot of espresso every morning that goes beyond Illy.

What is in your ipod?
The soundrack of the Monicelli movies, Bronto Scorpio ( a young german music maker who makes me trip). Electric Flowers, The Vergins, Esser, M. Faithful, lods more of course...and podcasts called "This American Life"

Your last concert?
Godspeed Black Emperor.

Your favourite food?
Pasta when I make it.

What is inspiring to you at the moment and how does the future look?
Rings on men. The future is looking so good I can't even stare straight at it!!!

The McQ oversize mini dress

So...the other day I went out to shop some cheap basics from h&m and I came back with this McQ dress instead. How the f*@#k did it happened? Don't ask me. I just couldn't resist the asymmetrical cut, the zipper detail and the grey melange shade... the oversize/sweater shape has been a plus too! I have been checking out the entire collection, which is quite interesting indeed, and I found myself drooling over a few pieces. Q+A with Pauline van Dongen | §tereop§i§ FW11

Read my interview with amazingly talented Pauline Van Dongen, young designer from Amsterdam that with her graduation collection Morphogenesis won the prestigious "Most creative collection" Fashion Award in Italy issued by Camera della Moda.
Pauline’s work focuses on the surface, she uses fabric as a starting point.
Working with unconventional or new materials triggers her to explore and research the processing and finishing in a garment and allows her to work like a researcher. Tactility, texture and no-frills modernity are the essence of her work,
“a proposal for the future”.

About STEREOPSIS collection video:
"As the eyes of humans and other animals are in different positions on the head, they present different views simultaneously. This is the basis of stereopsis, the process by which the brain exploits the parallax due to the different views from the eye to gain depth perception and estimate distances to objects. The mesmerizing video is a preview of the womenswear collection Stereopsis, which explores this phenomenon.
§tereop§i§ is an exploration through an alien couture landscape, using echoes and ghosts to leave time in the residue of a digital harp performance. This combination of the universal based fashion of Pauline van Dongen and Champagne Valentine invites you into a backwards galaxy.

Who is the woman protagonist of your Stereopsis FW11 collection and what is the inspiration behind it?
The relationship between the body and the environment is one of the main sources of inspiration for me as a designer. It’s movements within space, and the way people interact with their surroundings. The functioning of the brain and the senses; especially how we see things and how we put our surroundings in a certain perspective. The inspiring work of the artist James Turrell was one of the driving forces behind my latest work. His sculptures of light in space which incite the effect of illusion by playing with three dimensional space and two dimensional surfaces, led to the research for my womenswear
collection Stereopsis. Light creates our dimensions of space and thereby influences our perception of our surroundings. Something that seems flat at first sight can suddenly appear to be three dimensional.

Which colors and materials have you been using and experimenting with?
I prefer the idea that the body is what gives the clothes a certain volume. This, to me is more than just clothing, it is a way of seeing and experiencing shapes and volumes around a moving body. Starting with the materials and working directly on a mannequin, making moulages/drapings is the best way for me to translate an abstract concept into a visual and aesthetic representation. Therefore I used
materials that could imitate and incorporate a moving body. One of those materials is buntal, a woven woodfiber from the Philippines. It may seem quite rigid from a distance but it’s flexibility actually allowed me to work like a sculptress. I find it a challenge to work with materials that are quite
unconventional for clothing. This requires a certain ingenuity. Actually with every collection I unconsciously seek for complexity and challenge myself to find solutions; this allows me to work like a researcher. I’ve also used a lot of leather in this collection. By laser cutting leather I created three dimensional structures that play with light and interact with the viewer when moving.

What is inspiring you at the moment?
At the moment I’m very interested in Cubism. In cubist artworks objects are broken up, analyzed, and re-assembled in an abstracted form. Also the way the works of Picasso for instance depict multitude viewpoints simultaneous in one painting is fascinating. In a way it’s also about depth perception, but in a layered manner.

What do you think style is about? And how would you describe your personal style?
Style is not really the right word for me, it’s more about behaviour and attitude to me. To me it’s about being aware of your surroundings, being aware of movement around you and also about having a goal in life and a vision.

And if it was a person? Who's your style icon?
I don’t really have a style icon. I do admire people with a strong personality; driven people with courage and a vision.

And finally... if your style was a song, what song would it be?
That’s very hard to say, because I like a lot of different kinds of music. It depends on my mood I guess...Today I would go for Clock Catcher of Flying Lotus.

What are your three most loved items lurking in your closet?
A grey suede leather dress, a bright orange cropped Tshirt, and some new All Saints army boots.

What is an absolute "must do" in Amsterdam?
@7 for Breakfast, brunch, lunch, tea or coffee...
Foam, the photography museum.
Proeflokaal Wijnand Fockink, a spirits and liqueur distillery and tasting room dating from 1679. A nice place to have a special drink.
To shop go to ‘the negen straatjes’ (The nine streets in between the canals) with nice boutiques, vintage shops, design shops (like Frozen Fountain) and good cafes/restaurants as well.

Ones to watch: Q+A with YY | Andrey Yarden

Hello beautiful people! Today I'm very excited to introduce you the jagged edged design work of Andrey Yarden, young emerging talent from Saint Petersburg, Russia. His jewelry creations and accessories design have a very distinct style. They are beautiful and quirky, alluring and uncomfortable, eccentric and shocking almost like wearable performance art. Andrey's ultimate point is to push boundaries and be utterly unique, and surely his work is going in the right direction exuding a charming allure that I am obsessed with.

Hi Andrey! Tell us something about you and how did you get into jewelry design.I will begin with saying that I have not any design education, everything that I do is based on my own experience. In 2008 I’ve finished Moscow State Institute of Steel and Alloys. My speciality there was engineer-metallurgist. Nothing about design. From the 3rd course that I have attended the only subjects that I was interested into, despite all of them were necessary, were engineering drawing, history, philosophy…but they were not the main subjects for technical high school. Finally, I don’t know how, but I finished it. At the moment I was already working as graphic designer for an advertising agency. It was the beginning I think. After spending a short time working there I immediately understood that in Russia this kind of job is very far away from art, creativity and beauty in general. At that time I didn’t know which part of design I was really interested in – graphic, interior, costume, etc. - I was trying to do some projects with paintings and graphics but I didn't feel that I was getting quite satisfied with it. So I left advertising. One day I made my first creation just for myself, I put it on and I went to a party…some people told me that it was cool and asked how could they buy it. Since that day, a little more than one year has passed and during this time I have made a big jump. But the most important thing is that now I absolutely and precisely know what I want to do and how should I move. And I am so happy to understand the flowing of my ideas and decisions, and the way I’m going from one thing to another. I have started my designs from little things like jewelry, then I came up with some accessories and now I’m quite ready to present my first clothing collection full of many strange things. But for this you will need to wait a little bit more.Which materials do you use and do you like to experiment with?The materials I use the most are alloy of silver and tin. I’m using them because they allow me to make exciting shapes without using difficult industrial techniques. On the other side I use also different materials, which can be other metals such as copper, steel, aluminum, gold (but only as an additive), minerals and stones, both processed and absolutely wild, glass, antiquarian subjects and the strangest things up to meteorite splinters. In each collection I’m trying to use new techniques and new materials to achieve new results and be amazed. It’s like an alchemy. Magic.

Your head pieces and jewelry are quite amazing. How would you like to see them worn?Oh! Thanks a lot! How would I like to see them worn…You know, I consider that the main thing here is to have a certain history... I create things with history, manly because I almost don't use precious metals or stones, as even copper can look more beautiful than gold if there is history behind it. It is a kind of strange beauty, with a touch of mystery, very fragile and almost inaudible. Sometimes I meet the people which wear my things, and I think that all of them are a bit mad... Like characters from David Lynch or Terry Gilliam films. I’m in love with them. More often they live in their own worlds, live by their rules and like to break any standard norms as the majority of them have become outdated since a long time. I love beautiful people, they inspire me, I like to see their beauty and add something to it.

What is inspiring you at the moment?I have recently come back from travel on the near East and Africa... And now, in spite of the fact that in Russia is winter and it is full of snow, I am still inside those colors and paints, in the desert and the Arabian stories. It is something ancient, a mix of cultures, religions and above all there is the desert – the place of silence and loneliness. When I am at work, those memories and impressions spread through myself and into my next collection.Are you into fashion? Who is your favourite designer?I don’t think so. Yes, I know some great names in fashion industry but I’m trying not to be interested in them. Because the human brain can keep track in its memory of many things, even without the will of its owner. I don’t want to be like someone, I have my own way and my own eyes. That’s why I prefer, for example, magazines about geography or nature to fashion magazines, as a last resort where can be found history of fashion.What do you think style is about? How would you describe your personal style? And ...I am curious: who does your hair? (I love your hairstyle!)Style… I think style is possibility to connect the private world with the outside… And it is better when you understand yourself, as look and personality merge together more organically. The most stylish people - they most likely simply well understand themselves. And it is not a matter of fashion. I rather often change my style just following my senses…Those curly hair was from my romantic period in Saint-Petersburg. I was one of the first in Russia who wore such hairstyle. Often people in the street looked at me, some with surprise some other with a frightened look. But for me it was not important, as I was in my trip. But that time is gone and I already feel in another way. That’s why it was so easy to just shave everything away (I also made it for a video-project - see SEKTA VIDEO BELOW)Now I feel sometimes like a man from the French revolution of the beginning of 20th century…In suede trousers, heavy laced leather boots, gray thick woolen coat, rough woolen plaid scarf, carrying a leather backpack and wearing rings, rings and rings :))) sometimes when I walk through Saint-Petersbourg it looks like I am Raskolnikov by Dostoevsky… I think it is the influence of the city…Anyway there are not just labels… Besides I almost haven't any branded clothes.

If style was a place it would be...I don’t know…I think I haven’t been there yet. That’s why I’m moving now for the 6th time in the last year. When I find it I will stay there till the end.And if it was a person? Who is your style icon?Rule number one – no icons :) but…maybe Tilda Swinton…I don’t know how she looks in everyday life but all that I saw about her on photos and movies have bewitched me every time. And Queen Elisabeth by Cate Blanchett in “Golden Age” movie…gorgeous...What's in your ipod?It’s 160 Gb + 250 Gb on HD :)) most of them of electronic, experimental, sometimes deep house, dubstep. The last added are Iamamiwhoami, a Scandinavian idm project, “blue songs”, the last album of Hercules and Love Affair…..but the most played for the last 4 years is Bjork…she makes me go crazy…genius…

Last concert you have been to?Placebo's concert in Saint-Petersburg. That band is from my teen age period :) I like Molko. But I used to like him more the way he was about 10 years ago, at the time of "Nancy boy". This time the main song from last album is named “Battle for the Sun” – so perfect for winter here.Last book you read?Henry Miller – Tropic of CancerYour favourite food?Thai food – is the best. But more often I simply forget to eat and live on chocolate :)

And finally, what is an absolute must do in Saint Petersburg?Never go to SPb during winter…it is like a suicide :) But at summer is great. Mad architecture in a great city full of amazing stories of imperial Russia. One of my friend told me about SPb: “It is not a place to descend to, but to go pleasantly” it’s like truth. But it is full of museums, Hermitage, Petergof they are really great..and my lovely favourite place is the flea market…where you can buy many many strange or very old things really cheap.. I named it "bench of treasures" :) It is on Udelnaya train station, not so far from the center. Thank you Andrey!

Klara is a Swedish designer that lives in Barcelona. We met while sipping a cocktail in an Italian wine bar in NY and we immediately started chatting about jewelry and fashion. She introduced me to Sak Label and I loved the brand philosophy to create unique jewelry with a playful and modern aesthetics, each collection released only in small editions and every step of the production made in Barcelona.

Hi Klara!

Tell us something about you and how did the Sak Label project come about.
Sak Label consists of me Klara Hedener, a Swede resident in Barcelona, and Alejandra Solar a Mexican designer currently living in Luxembourg. We met while studying Artistic Jewellery at Escola Massana and during the long hours spent in the workshop while finishing our final projects, the idea for the project came to life.

Can you describe your latest collection?
For our first collection “Chains & Pearls” we found inspiration in essential jewellery pieces. We reinterpreted and transformed heritage motifs such as pearl necklaces, chain colliers and baroque pendants into 2 dimensional shapes. Our intention is to create jewelry that play with tradition and modernity.

Which materials do you use and like to experiment with?
We have so far used brass and steel and worked with different kinds of finishes in gold or silver plating and colored lacquer. I love natural materials such as leather, stone and wood and would definitely consider mixing materials in coming collections.

Who wears Sak Label? And how would you like to see your jewelry worn?
I think our client is looking for something in between classical jewelry and accessories. We put a great deal of work into every piece and the quality of the finish. Our philosophy is to create unique jewelry with playful and modern aesthetics, jewelry to be worn everyday and for special occasions.

What is inspiring you at the moment?

Spring coming up, Ann-Sofie Back jewelry and fashion blogs.

How much are you into fashion? And who or which are you fav fashion designers?

I find great inspiration in fashion. It’s hard to name a favorite designer because for me it varies with every collection, but for spring/summer 2011 I loved Lanvin, especially the accessories. Also Raf Simons for Jil Sander and Haider Ackermann were amazing.

What's your most treasured piece of jewelry that you own? And the favourite piece in your closet?
Most treasured piece of jewelry is without a doubt a 19th century turquoise pendant that I inherited from my grandmother. It opens up and on the inside are pictures of my great grandfather and grandmother. Favorite pieces in my closet changes quite often, but for the moment I have to say that I’m still in love with an oversize croco & leather clutch that I found at a thrift shop in NY.

What do you think style is about? And how would you describe your personal style?
I think style is all about personality. Finding inspiration in fashion and making you own personal interpretation. My style is a mix of a few designer items, second hand finds, high street bargains and gems found in my mothers closet.

If style was a place it would be...
I will have to be predictable: Paris

and if it was a person? Who's your style icon?
I can’t say that I have any celeb style icon. I’ve had a few friends who were blessed with the talent of always looking effortlessly fabulous whatever they put on. I guess those talented few are my icons.

What's in your ipod?
My ipod broke but on it was a sad collection of old house to keep me company while I go running, and a little bit of everything from Lykke Li to Caribou and The XX.

You are from Sweden, you live in Barcellona and when I met you you were In NY. Do you travel a lot? How do you like that?
I love traveling and grab every chance I get to do so. My boyfriend travels a lot in his work and whenever I get the chance, I go with him. We both like the idea of spending a few months every year in a new city. Changing your routine and getting some new inspiration can only be a positive thing.

And finally, if I came to Barcellona where should I go shopping? And what is an absolute must-do there?
For good shopping in Barcelona I would have to say Snö, a swedish design shop turned web shop, that also sell Sak Label. Other than that there is Paco Rueda in C/ Jaume I, and Doshaburi close by in C/ Lledó. In general Barcelona is not amazing when it comes to shopping. What is great about Barcelona is its charm and climate. Having a “café con leche” in a terrace in La Ribera in the middle of winter or going for a morning run as the sun rises over La Barceloneta.

Hello beautiful pepole! Today I'm very glad to announce that me and my blog have been featured with an interview on the Italian magazine Enquire! I want to thank the gorgeous Cristina Mainardi for choosing Wobblinbetty Keeps Wobblin' as blog of the month and all the lovely people there at Enquire mag!

It's a free zone, a black space where all the ideas and life of a quirky Italian female character take shape. It's a universe within a blog where different works of art come together; it doesn’t matter if they are from the fashion world, traditional photography or art, what you will find here is cutting edge and avant-garde. Many of the images come from editorials from various sources and always point out, as the blog does, what is “new” in the world from any point of view. It’s easy to understand that this is the story of the everyday life of "Betty", which is made of events, photoshootings, urban life and cool people. It's a nice place to visit from time to time, to lean out from that ledge called “everyday”.
We had the pleasure to chat with Betty, to get to know her a little bit more:

Who is WOBBLINBETTY? Wobblinbetty [Elisabetta Giovi] "quick wobblin', life lovin', party makin', jelly shakin', beauty cravin', style inspiring, mind blowing, fast moving, high reacting, creativity tickling, brain eating, black&white freakin', no repeating, easy going..."

Why did you choose this name? Wobblin' is everything that moves and shakes in a crazy way, like some fruit jelly or the Queens of Dancehall's bum! I like that! It is very onomatopoeic, funny and doesn't take itself too seriously.

Where are you from? After spending a few months in Venice Beach, Los Angeles, I have just come back in Milan for working reasons.
I was born and raised in Varese, where I have been living till the end of the art school. Varese is an extremely elegant middle-class small city next to Milan (Italy), but there you find a small bunch of alternative and creative persons that go against the tide and make it a very interesting place.
But if you ask me where I am REALLY from I will have to say Brixton, London. I have been leaving there for a quite a few years between the end of the Nineteens and the beginning of the new millenium, breathing the very hard core of an uncontrolled underground culture made of art, design, street style, electronic music and rave parties. Maybe it has got something to do with the fact that I am an Aquarius who tends to get easily bored with things and is always looking for new inspiration, but changing place and habits has always a very positive and stimulating effect on me! I like to travel but the thing I love the most is having the chance to settle for a while in the places that strike and inspire me...

What is your job? I am visual designer and art director. I love my job. Check out my work at www.wobblinbetty.com

How does your job influence your blog and viceversa? In more recent years I have grown into the design for fashion and beauty industry frontline, and because of this it happens very often that I am looking for photographers, shooting, shop windows and communication inspiration. Every time that I discover a particularly charming new talent, somebody that catch my attention because of a special attitude, I make a post about it on my blog. The things I publish are actually a bit more edgy compared to what I normally present on my job, but than again the edgy way is where I want to be and I always try to push myself in that direction.

Our section is called "Blogging out of.." and you, why do you blog out? Keepwobblin.com is the place where I collect images, thoughts, visions...everything that inspire me and fits into my underground-chic aesthetic ideal. When I come across somebody or something that gets me excited I need to share it.

Your blog is about fashion, photography and art, why? Fashion, photography, style, art and design are my passion which I try to fulfill and feed constantly and as much as I can, also through the blog.

Where do you find out all the artists you talk about? It depends. I can find them online, on a magazine, at a fashion event or in club while sipping a cocktail. For example, sometime ago I was out in an Italian wine bar in NY and I met the gorgeous Klara, jewelry designer from Saklabel. Only a few minutes after we have been introduced to each other we were already planning a collaboration, an interview and a competition...it will actually be very soon on my blog, so be sure you watch out for the wonderful giveaway!

How is your website traffic? I have a lot of visits coming from USA and UK, and straight after from Italy and other countries. In the latest period I posted more material from Eastern Europe and because of this I am also getting more visits from that area. This makes me particularly happy because I strongly believe in the positive outcome from Easter/Western contamination. I have scheduled for the near future an amazing post about a young designer from Moscow that completely drove me crazy! You will love that!

How do you find the contents for your blog? The contents of my blog come from different sources but mainly from online, magazines and fashion events. I definitely have a soft spot for dark, minimal, aggressive aesthetic but this doesn't mean that I publish everything I found that fits this description. Many times friends and colleagues that share my same aesthetic ideal bring interesting new stuff to my attention.

How do you choose what to post? I follow my instinct, always. I am never in doubt about posting some stuff or not, I choose at a glance, like I do when I am working. The beautiful and unusual win on everything. I always try to avoid too popular subjects that have already been around the web too much, like for example Fashion Week reports and stuff like that.

What do you think about the Blog phenomenon? In your opinion, could it influence the fashion system? Fashion blogs are surely an interesting phenomenon but honestly I cannot tell how much they really get to influence the fashion system. The truth is, nowadays is very easy to be a fashion blogger, but if you want to deliver something new a lot of work and passion are needed... The people I write about are kind of "ambassadors" of the avant-garde I'm talking about and I am truly happy to have the chance to publish their work... If this manages to influence the system is even better!
The only negative thing that I can say about the fashion blogs reality that increasingly grows day by day is that I get fed up of new trends even before seeing them on the street.

How your blog is different from the others? One of my readers recently described it as "a feast for the eyes" and I think she got it right.

Better the foreigner ones? I don't think there is any quality difference between Italian and foreigner blogs, I am big fan and supporter of both.
Only if we talk about style blogs I must say I follow more the foreigner ones because of the more alternative underground style they deliver. Italy is the homeland of polished elegance and flawless style. It is easy to see this just looking at the young women that stroll around Milan: they all look like if they came out straight from a Vogue editorial. I truly admire this typically Italian sense of style but I feel much more at ease between Iris Van Harper, Rick Owens, Barbara i Gongini, Asger Juel Larsen, Zana Bayne, Gemma Slack, Gareth Pugh and Ann Demeulemeester…brands that are much more easy to find on foreigner blogs and shops.

Plans for the future? I love to live day by day but I can tell you that I have a very exciting plan coming up...but it is still top secret for the moment! Stay tuned!

The teaser ( "Anatomy of Change"), the clothes, the music, the set up (a custom-designed cathedral in a Paris gymnasium), the protagonists (Nicola Formichetti as creative director, Lady Gaga, Coco Rocha, Jessica Stam, Ruby Aldridge, Liu Wen, and Joan Smalls on the catwalk)...everything insanely exciting...Enjoy!

Lina Osterman SS11

The reason I love Lina Osterman so much is because her clothes are the perfect mix of minimal urban-chic style with a slightly aggressive note and a dark charming feel. With her studs are a must, and I so like that, and this delicious SS11 collection is no exception. But for this season is not total black and studs, in fact there are some white and floral patterns which unexpectedly intrigue me a lot...and once again I find myself drooling over so many items of a brilliant lookbook.

A film by Joost Vandebrug for Volt magazine featuring Alice Delall.

First time I discovered Joost Vandebrug provocative work was during the exhibition "Boys Club" we hosted at Dopolavoro Gallery during Milan Fashion week 2010, and for which I designed the catalogue and communication material. In that occasion all the featured works where portraits of young teenage boys, captured half naked during intimate moments...quite provocative indeed. So it was a nice surprise for me when the other day I came across this short film, featuring the transgressive Alice Delall shooted in a very sexy way. I would really love to see more stuff like this coming from the young Dutch photographer...
